Bayern Munich have intensified their pursuit of Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon, reportedly receiving a strong endorsement from England manager Thomas Tuchel, according to TEAMtalk. The Bundesliga champions are increasingly confident of securing Gordon’s signature this summer.
Representatives of Gordon have already agreed to personal terms with Bayern as the German club seeks to bolster its attacking options for the upcoming season. Gordon has emerged as a priority target for Bayern, and Tuchel has reportedly delivered a “glowing reference” to Bayern sporting director Max Eberl, praising the player’s mentality, tactical intelligence, and suitability for elite-level football.
Newcastle are aware of Bayern’s interest and initial talks have taken place between the two clubs, however, a significant valuation gap remains. Newcastle are reportedly holding out for a fee of at least £75million for the 25-year-old, while Bayern’s current offer is believed to be around £20million lower. Despite this difference, sources suggest Bayern are optimistic about progressing negotiations, with Gordon also reportedly attracted to the prospect of joining the Bavarian giants.
Gordon views Bayern as a standout opportunity, and Tuchel’s presence in the England setup is believed to have further enhanced that appeal. Newcastle are simultaneously preparing for a potential departure, assessing several replacements including Lille’s Matias Fernandez-Pardo, Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche, Club Brugge’s Christos Tzolis, Osasuna’s Victor Munoz, and Real Betis winger Abde Ezzalzouli.
Bayern’s pursuit of Gordon is part of a broader recruitment strategy to add dynamism to their attack. Sporting director Eberl recently confirmed the club’s intention to sign an attacking player, stating they are in talks with a leading target, widely understood to be Gordon. Paris Saint-Germain are also monitoring Gordon’s situation, but a move is contingent on the departure of Bradley Barcola. Interest from Arsenal and Liverpool also exists, though neither club has yet made a formal offer. Currently, Bayern appears to be in the strongest position to secure the England international, bolstered by Tuchel’s positive assessment.
