Deniz Undav has affirmed his desire to remain at VfB Stuttgart for the duration of his playing career, following a recent contract extension with the Bundesliga club. The 29-year-old signed a new deal extending his stay until 2029, solidifying his commitment to the Stuttgart project.
Undav publicly stated his ambition to become a “legend” at the club, expressing a deep connection with the team, its supporters, and the city itself. Speaking on the YouTube channel Hrstryagency, as reported by Bild, he indicated a potential future role within the club even after his retirement as a player, outlining a long-term vision with Stuttgart.
The forward’s contract renewal followed what he described as lengthy negotiations, ultimately resulting in a significant financial package. Bild reports that Undav received a €4 million signing bonus and now earns a base salary of approximately €5.5 million annually, making him Stuttgart’s highest-paid player. He acknowledged that other offers with more lucrative terms were available, including the possibility of a free transfer in the winter window, but prioritized his happiness and connection to the club.
Undav joined Stuttgart in 2023 after a successful spell with Union Saint-Gilloise, where he finished as the Belgian Pro League’s top scorer. He quickly established himself as a key player for Stuttgart, contributing significantly to their impressive Bundesliga campaign last season. His recent form extended to the international stage, where he made a positive impact for Germany, scoring and providing assists in a recent friendly against Curaçao.
Stuttgart secured a Champions League spot last season, exceeding expectations under manager Enzo Hoeness. Retaining key players like Undav is crucial as the club prepares for the challenges of competing on multiple fronts. His commitment provides stability and a focal point for the team’s attacking ambitions, potentially solidifying Stuttgart’s position as a force in German football.
