Manchester United and Chelsea are both monitoring Real Sociedad winger Ander Barrenetxea ahead of a potential summer transfer, according to reports in Spain. The 24-year-old has become a key player for Real Sociedad, earning his first call-up to the Spanish national team earlier this year and inclusion in the provisional squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Barrenetxea has scored three goals and provided three assists in La Liga this season, contributing significantly to Real Sociedad’s campaign. MARCA reports that both United and Chelsea have added the Spaniard to their shortlist of potential summer signings. With four years remaining on his current contract, Real Sociedad are unlikely to allow Barrenetxea to leave for a fee below his estimated transfer value of between €18.1 million and €22.2 million.
Elsewhere, Manchester United have made a “discreet enquiry” regarding the availability of Nottingham Forest full-back Neco Williams, as reported by BBC Sport. Aston Villa, Everton, and Newcastle United are also said to be interested in the 25-year-old, who has been a standout performer for Forest this season. However, the club have reportedly begun discussions with Williams over a contract extension and currently have no intention of selling.
Paris Saint-Germain have entered the race to sign Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, challenging Arsenal for the Argentine’s signature. AS reports that PSG are prepared to offer between €140-150 million for Alvarez, potentially exceeding Arsenal’s financial capabilities. Alvarez has been a consistent goalscorer for Atletico, and his potential arrival would significantly strengthen PSG’s attacking options.
Chelsea are also intensifying their pursuit of Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, with talks over a summer deal reportedly “ramping up”. TEAMtalk reports that Chelsea view Scott as a player who fits their long-term vision, with Manchester United also expressing interest in the 2026 World Cup hopeful. Several other Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and Newcastle, are also monitoring the situation.
