Ipswich Town have completed the permanent signing of forward Emersonn from Toulouse, the Ligue 1 club confirmed on Wednesday. The transfer fee is reported to be €32 million, making it the largest sale in Toulouse’s history, according to L’Équipe.
Emersonn arrived at Toulouse from Göztepe SK for a fee of €3.2 million, representing a significant profit of over €28 million for the French club. This surpasses the previous record sale of Issa Diop to West Ham United in 2018, which was valued at €25 million.
The Brazilian forward enjoyed a breakout season with Toulouse, scoring seven goals and providing three assists in all competitions. His performances established him as one of the team’s key players throughout the year. Emersonn’s contributions were crucial as Toulouse navigated a competitive league campaign.
Ipswich Town, recently promoted to the Premier League, will be hoping Emersonn can replicate his form in England’s top flight. The move provides a boost to their attacking options as they prepare for the challenges of the Premier League. For Toulouse, the substantial transfer fee will allow for reinvestment in the squad and potentially strengthen their position in Ligue 1. The sale demonstrates their ability to develop and sell valuable assets.
The transfer signifies Ipswich Town’s ambition to establish themselves in the Premier League, while Toulouse continues to demonstrate a shrewd transfer strategy.
