Tammy Abraham is weighing up his options away from Aston Villa, with Sunderland, Everton, and Leeds United all expressing interest in the striker, according to TEAMtalk. The 28-year-old returned to Villa Park in January for a fee of £21million, but has found first-team opportunities limited under Unai Emery.
Since rejoining the club where he previously enjoyed a successful loan spell in the 2018/19 Championship season – scoring 26 goals – Abraham has largely been behind Ollie Watkins in the pecking order. While Villa lifted the Europa League trophy, Abraham started only two Premier League matches this campaign. This lack of regular football has led him to consider a move in search of more consistent playing time, potentially to bolster his chances of further England caps.
Sunderland are reportedly keen on Abraham as a focal point for their attack, with manager Regis Le Bris seeking competition for Brian Brobbey. Everton, now under the ownership of The Friedkin Group – who also previously owned Roma where Abraham played – view him as a proven Premier League performer capable of adding goals. The Toffees have been inconsistent in attack this season with Beto and Thierno Barry, making a new forward a likely priority. Leeds United are also monitoring the situation, should they decide to strengthen their forward line.
Interest has also emerged from clubs in Europe, offering Abraham the possibility of a move abroad. However, Aston Villa are currently reluctant to sell the player, having only re-signed him six months ago and having him contracted until 2030. Emery reportedly values Abraham as a reliable backup and potential partner for Watkins. Nevertheless, the club may be open to offers given the evolving financial landscape of the Premier League, with new Squad Cost Ratio (SCR) rules impacting clubs’ spending.
A move would allow Abraham to reclaim a leading role, utilising his strengths in hold-up play, aerial ability, and finishing. He has demonstrated flashes of his potential in limited appearances this season, and a fresh start could reignite his career following spells at Roma and Besiktas. The summer transfer window promises to be a significant period for the experienced striker as he considers his future.
