Werder Bremen are poised to add Real Valladolid midfielder Chuki to their squad, beating out competition from several other European clubs. The 22-year-old is expected to undergo a medical examination on Monday, according to DeichStube, paving the way for a move to the Bundesliga side.
Chuki will join Werder as a free agent, with his contract at Real Valladolid set to expire at the end of the current season. The attacking midfielder has reportedly agreed to a long-term deal with the Bremen club, extending until 2030. This represents a significant coup for Werder, who have successfully navigated interest from clubs in higher-profile leagues.
Several other teams were reportedly tracking Chuki’s progress, including VfB Stuttgart, RB Leipzig, Italian giants Juventus, and Serie B side Como. However, Werder Bremen’s promise of regular first-team football is believed to have been a key factor in the player’s decision. The club’s sporting director, Clemens Fritz, has prioritized bringing in players who can immediately contribute to the team’s attacking output.
This season, Chuki has been a standout performer in the Spanish Segunda División, directly contributing to fourteen goals for Real Valladolid. He has scored seven goals and provided eight assists, showcasing his creative abilities and eye for goal. Valladolid finished 7th in the league, narrowly missing out on a play-off spot for promotion to La Liga.
Werder Bremen finished 10th in the Bundesliga last season, a respectable return for a newly promoted side. The addition of Chuki is expected to bolster their attacking options and provide competition for places in the midfield. The move signals Werder’s ambition to continue building a competitive squad capable of challenging for European qualification in the coming seasons.
