West Ham United are preparing to renew their interest in Southampton centre-back Taylor Harwood-Bellis this summer, according to TEAMtalk. The Hammers saw multiple bids, including both loan and permanent offers, rejected in January for the 24-year-old England international.
Harwood-Bellis has been a consistent performer for Southampton despite their relegation from the Championship, demonstrating composure, aerial ability, and leadership qualities. The Saints were recently removed from the play-off final, potentially opening the door for his departure. Southampton currently value Harwood-Bellis in excess of £20million, with his contract running until 2028.
West Ham’s pursuit is contingent on their Premier League status, as relegation would likely intensify competition from other top-flight clubs. Everton and Crystal Palace have both been monitoring Harwood-Bellis’s progress, impressed by his ball-playing skills and potential for further development. Burnley, where Harwood-Bellis previously enjoyed a successful loan spell, also remain interested, though their own relegation complicates matters.
Harwood-Bellis is reportedly keen to establish himself as a regular in the Premier League and earn further international caps, having made one senior appearance for England to date. He views a move to the London Stadium favourably, but the uncertainty surrounding West Ham’s league position could prove decisive. Southampton’s recent play-off final exit has significantly increased the likelihood of a transfer, despite their initial reluctance to lose a key player.
