Auxerre have appointed Will Still as their new manager, the Ligue 1 club confirmed on Wednesday. The Belgian coach has signed a two-year contract with the Burgundy-based side, extending to June 2028, with an additional one-year option included in the agreement.
Baptiste Malherbe, the club’s delegated president, expressed his delight at Still’s arrival, stating the club will provide him with full support to succeed and continue the club’s sporting progress. Still, 33, returns to France after a short spell with Southampton in the English Premier League, where he was dismissed earlier this year.
Still first gained recognition in Ligue 1 during a successful two-year tenure with Reims from 2022 to 2024. He then moved to RC Lens for the 2024-2025 season before becoming available following his departure from Southampton. This appointment marks his third managerial role within the French top flight.
The move to Auxerre offers Still an opportunity to rebuild his managerial career after a challenging period in England. Auxerre, who secured their second consecutive season of Ligue 1 survival despite dismissing previous manager Christophe Pélissier, will hope Still can provide stability and further progress for the club. The appointment is expected to bring a fresh tactical approach and renewed ambition to the AJA.
