Borussia Dortmund wing-back Yan Couto is in advanced negotiations with Serie A side Como 1907, according to reports from transfer journalist Matteo Moretto. The Brazilian international is reportedly open to the move as he seeks more consistent first-team football.
Couto has struggled to cement a regular starting position at Dortmund during his second season with the club, often finding himself behind Julian Ryerson in the pecking order. While initially signed with the expectation of becoming a key player, the 24-year-old has largely been limited to a rotational role. He has made 62 appearances for Dortmund across all competitions, contributing three goals and four assists.
Dortmund are believed to be seeking a transfer fee in the region of €20-25 million for Couto, who is currently under contract until 2030. Recent reports suggested a loan move was also being considered, but the negotiations appear to be progressing towards a permanent transfer. Como, recently promoted back to Serie A, are actively strengthening their squad ahead of the new season and see Couto as a valuable addition to their ranks.
Couto initially joined Dortmund from Corinthians in 2020, spending a season on loan at Benfica before returning to Germany. He has represented Brazil at youth levels and earned one senior cap for the national team in 2022. The move to Como would offer Couto the opportunity to become a prominent figure in a developing Serie A team, potentially revitalizing his career trajectory. This transfer could also free up space in Dortmund’s squad and allow them to pursue other targets in the summer window.
Como’s ambition under new ownership is clear, and the pursuit of a player with Couto’s experience and potential signals their intent to establish themselves as a competitive force in Italian football. Dortmund, meanwhile, will look to reinvest any funds generated from the sale to further bolster their own squad as they aim to challenge for domestic and European honours.
