Erencan Yardimci will spend the upcoming season on loan at 1. FC Kaiserslautern from TSG Hoffenheim, the Bundesliga club confirmed on Friday. The move sees the young Turkish striker return to the 2. Bundesliga, where he previously played for Eintracht Braunschweig during the 2023-24 campaign.
Yardimci joined Hoffenheim from Turkish Süper Lig side Eyüpspor last summer but has found first-team opportunities limited. He featured sporadically for the Bundesliga outfit, prompting the decision to seek further development through regular game time. During his loan spell with Braunschweig, he scored four goals, demonstrating his potential in the German second tier.
The loan deal includes an option for Kaiserslautern to make the transfer permanent at the end of the season. According to reports, exercising that option could result in a club-record transfer fee for the Rhineland-Palatinate side, highlighting the value Hoffenheim place on the player. The financial details of both the loan and the potential purchase option have not been disclosed.
TSG Hoffenheim sporting director Paul Pajduch expressed his satisfaction with the move, stating that Yardimci’s time at Braunschweig was beneficial for his growth. Pajduch believes Kaiserslautern provides an “ambitious environment” where the forward can continue to develop his game. Yardimci has also represented Turkey at the Under-21 level, earning 13 caps and scoring six goals.
Kaiserslautern will be hoping Yardimci can bolster their attacking options as they aim for a promotion push in the 2. Bundesliga. The loan move provides Hoffenheim with a pathway to potentially recoup a significant fee for the player, while simultaneously allowing him to gain valuable experience and potentially establish himself as a key player in German football.
