Nicolò Zaniolo’s future at Udinese is once again in doubt after a potential contract extension reportedly fell through, according to reports in Italy. Initial talks earlier in the week had indicated a verbal agreement on a revised salary of €1.8 million per year, tied to a renewal until 2029, but Zaniolo has since withdrawn from training, citing a medical issue that prevents him from participating.
The situation has created significant tension between the player and the club, with a complete breakdown in negotiations now a possibility. Meanwhile, Udinese have moved to secure the future of their director of sport, Gianluca Nani, extending his contract for another season. Fiorentina are enjoying a productive transfer window, having already secured the signings of Viery, Dragusin, and Atta – the latter arriving from Udinese for €27 million plus €5 million in bonuses, with Udinese retaining a 30% sell-on clause.
Fiorentina have also agreed terms for the loan of Alex Jiménez from Bournemouth, including a €20 million option to buy, with Bournemouth also set to receive 30% of any future sale. Roma winger Mati Soulè is reportedly set to leave the club, with the Serie A side seeking a fee in the range of €35-40 million. Sunderland, Borussia Dortmund, and several clubs from the Saudi Pro League are all said to be interested in the Argentinian.
Napoli are nearing the acquisition of Exequiel Zeballos from Boca Juniors for around €10 million, with the player expected to sign a contract until 2031. Zerbin and Hasa are moving in the opposite direction, joining Frosinone, while Atalanta are again pursuing Alajbegovic from Leverkusen. Elsewhere, Enock Barwuah has joined his brother Mario Balotelli at Al-Ittifaq in Dubai. Atlético Madrid have completed the signing of Hjulmand from Sporting for a fee of €45 million including bonuses, and Paris Saint-Germain are close to signing Ferran Torres from Barcelona.
