Piotr Zielinski has stated his desire to remain with Inter Milan ahead of the upcoming season, following a successful campaign where the club secured both the Serie A title and Coppa Italia. The Polish midfielder enjoyed a standout year, becoming a key player under manager Cristian Chivu, featuring in 49 matches across all competitions and contributing seven goals and four assists.
Speaking from Warsaw, Poland, Zielinski indicated his commitment to the Nerazzurri, stating, “I think so, I want to stay because it’s a great team and you can always improve and do even better.” He acknowledged the club will likely make additions during the transfer window, aiming to maintain their competitiveness. Zielinski also expressed a need for improvement in the Champions League, suggesting further squad strengthening will be crucial.
The 32-year-old reflected on his performance, believing his best is yet to come, and surpassing his previous levels displayed at Napoli. He celebrated the success of the past season, noting, “If I kept the promise of showing the prime Zielinski? Yes, it went well. We won two important trophies.”
Zielinski also addressed recent transfer activity, offering his well wishes to Denzel Dumfries, who is set to join Real Madrid. He acknowledged the significance of Dumfries’ contributions to Inter but conceded that certain offers are difficult to refuse. The midfielder gave his endorsement to Marco Palestra, the Cagliari full-back currently being pursued by Inter and Atalanta, stating, “Palestra is strong.”
Looking at potential league additions, Zielinski expressed his belief that fellow Polish international Robert Lewandowski would be a good fit for Serie A, should he leave Barcelona. He also playfully referenced a viral moment with teammate Marcus Thuram, where Thuram jokingly pointed out Zielinski’s nationality, calling it a “nice, funny” moment that brought laughter to the team. The midfielder praised Thuram as “number one.”
Zielinski’s comments signal a strong desire to continue contributing to Inter’s success, and suggest he anticipates being a central figure in their future plans.
