Juventus complete €40m signing of Fiorentina midfielder Castrovilli
Juventus have finalized the permanent signing of Fiorentina midfielder Giacomo Castrovilli for an initial €40m fee, with performance-related add-ons potentially increasing the total package. The 26-year-old Italian international has signed a four-year contract through 2027 and completed his medical in Turin on Thursday.
Castrovilli becomes Juventus' first major summer acquisition as new manager Thiago Motta reshapes the squad following Paul Pogba's departure. The creative midfielder registered 12 goals and 7 assists across all competitions last season, earning Serie A's midfielder of the month award twice during Fiorentina's Europa Conference League campaign.
The transfer resolves a protracted negotiation between the clubs, with Juventus initially offering €35m before meeting Fiorentina's valuation. La Viola will reinvest portions of the fee into their youth academy and attacking reinforcements, according to sporting director Daniele Pradè's statement on the club website.
Castrovilli's arrival addresses Juventus' need for technical quality in central areas after finishing fourth in Serie A last term. The former Bari youth product told Juventus TV: 'Wearing this shirt is a dream – I'll give everything to help return Juventus to where they belong.'
Fiorentina retain a 15% sell-on clause as part of the agreement, safeguarding their interests should the midfielder impress at Allianz Stadium. Castrovilli is expected to join Juventus' preseason training camp in Piedmont next week.
