Bayern Munich complete loan signing of Xavi Simons from PSG
Bayern Munich have secured the season-long loan signing of Xavi Simons from Paris Saint-Germain, with an option to make the deal permanent for between €60m and €70m. Both clubs confirmed the agreement on Saturday, with the 21-year-old Dutch international immediately joining the Bundesliga side's preseason preparations.
Simons spent last season on loan at RB Leipzig, scoring 10 goals and providing 15 assists across all competitions. His performances in Germany attracted strong interest from multiple European clubs, but Bayern emerged as frontrunners earlier this week after accelerating negotiations with PSG.
The move provides Bayern with attacking reinforcement following Kingsley Coman's prolonged injury absence, while allowing Simons regular minutes in a Champions League-contending side. For PSG, the deal includes a mandatory purchase clause if certain performance benchmarks are met, protecting their investment in a player who came through their youth academy before rejoining from PSV Eindhoven in 2023.
Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund described Simons as 'a dynamic modern attacker who fits our philosophy' in a brief club statement. The youngster is expected to compete with Leroy Sané and Serge Gnabry for wide positions in Vincent Kompany's new-look system.
