Arsenal are preparing for a significant summer transfer window and have identified Aston Villa winger Morgan Rogers as a key target, according to Fabrizio Romano. Sporting director Andrea Berta is expected to play a central role in orchestrating at least three new signings, with Rogers among the priorities.
The Gunners, fresh off a Premier League title challenge and a Champions League final appearance, are looking to bolster their squad despite a substantial £267 million spend last summer which brought in eight players. Arsenal’s recent Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties has seemingly spurred ambition for further investment.
Reports suggest that manager Mikel Arteta will be given a considerable ‘war chest’ to secure four new players this summer. A top winger is considered the priority, with midfield and right-back also areas Arteta is keen to strengthen. The situation with potential strikers is still under review.
Arsenal are reportedly accelerating their pursuit of Rogers after both Berta and Arteta gave the signing their approval. Villa, who previously sold Jack Grealish to Manchester City for £100 million, are expected to demand a similarly significant fee for the 23-year-old. Rogers primarily plays as a number ten but is viewed as having the potential to develop into a world-class player on the left wing.
However, Arsenal will face competition from fellow Premier League clubs Manchester City and Chelsea for Rogers’ signature. The Gunners are also exploring other options on the wing, including Bradley Barcola, Nico Williams, and Rafael Leao, as potential alternatives should a deal for Rogers prove difficult to finalize.
In other potential business, Arsenal are also targeting Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali in midfield and have reportedly greenlit the sale of right-back Ben White, with Tino Livramento and Ivan Fresneda considered as potential replacements. Julian Alvarez of Manchester City is a dream target at centre-forward, though the player is reportedly favouring a move to Barcelona.
