Fulham Football Club have announced that Raúl Jiménez will depart the club when his contract expires at the end of the current season. The news was revealed on Monday alongside the release of fourteen other players whose deals are set to expire. Jiménez, a Mexico international, scored nine Premier League goals this season for Fulham.
Fulham acknowledged Jiménez’s contribution to the club, stating on their official website that he “played a key role during his three years at Fulham, scoring 31 goals.” Despite a relatively understated announcement from the club, Jiménez’s departure comes after a productive spell in London, where he re-established himself as a Premier League goalscorer. He initially joined on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers before making the move permanent.
Jiménez’s focus is now firmly on representing Mexico at the upcoming World Cup, which will be hosted in his home country. He is expected to lead the line for El Tri during the tournament, a significant opportunity for the forward who has only accumulated 116 minutes of playing time across three previous World Cup appearances. A strong showing at the World Cup could potentially open doors to further opportunities in Europe.
The 33-year-old forward joined Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2018, becoming a key player for the club before suffering a serious head injury in 2020. He returned to action but his form dipped, leading to a loan spell at Fulham in the 2022-23 season. He impressed during his loan period, earning a permanent move to Fulham in 2023. His departure leaves a void in Fulham’s attacking options, although the club will likely pursue reinforcements during the summer transfer window.
