Fiorentina are considering a squad overhaul with a focus on strengthening their attacking options ahead of next season, according to reports in Italy. The club is evaluating the futures of current forwards Kean, Piccoli, and Gudmundsson, all of whom have had inconsistent campaigns, scoring a combined 16 Serie A goals.
Sporting director Fabio Paratici and the club’s ownership are determined to build a more competitive Fiorentina side following a challenging season. One player under consideration is Karim Konaté, a 20-year-old forward currently at Red Bull Salzburg and an international for Ivory Coast. Konaté was previously a target for Inter Milan, with scouts impressed by his potential, but a recent anterior cruciate ligament injury led to a decrease in his valuation.
Konaté’s price tag has reportedly fallen from around €25 million to €15 million. He has since recovered fully from the injury and demonstrated strong form for Salzburg, scoring seven goals in 15 league appearances, totaling 901 minutes played, and featuring in four Europa League matches. His contract with Salzburg runs until June 2028. While his quality is undeniable, a potential concern is his lack of experience in Serie A.
Another option being explored is Lorenzo Lucca, currently on loan at Nottingham Forest from Napoli. However, Lucca has struggled for consistent playing time and form this season in both Serie A and the Premier League, unlike Konaté’s positive recent performances. Fiorentina’s forwards Piccoli and Gudmundsson will attempt to break their scoring drought against Juventus tomorrow, while Kean is recovering from a tibia injury and is unlikely to feature. The club is actively planning for the future, seeking to address the attacking deficiencies that have hampered their progress this season. A successful recruitment drive could position Fiorentina for a more ambitious campaign next term.
