Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi is attracting interest from Saudi Arabian side Al Ahli, according to Sky Sports. The potential move comes amid uncertainty surrounding the future of Al Ahli winger Riyad Mahrez, with the Saudi club potentially seeking a replacement. Adeyemi’s current contract with Dortmund runs until 2027, but the German club may consider a sale this summer.
Al Ahli view Adeyemi as a potential successor to Mahrez, should the Algerian international depart. The 35-year-old Mahrez has been a key figure for Al Ahli since joining the club, but his long-term future remains unclear. Dortmund have reportedly placed a valuation of around €50 million on Adeyemi, should they decide to sell.
Adeyemi joined Borussia Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg in 2022 for a reported fee of €30 million. The 22-year-old has shown flashes of brilliance for Dortmund, but injuries have hampered his consistency. He has scored eight goals in 34 appearances for the club across all competitions. Last season, he managed to net six Bundesliga goals, showcasing his potential as a dynamic attacker.
While primarily linked with European clubs previously, Adeyemi’s representatives are reportedly open to exploring opportunities outside of Europe. It remains to be seen whether Adeyemi himself would be receptive to a move to the Saudi Pro League. The Saudi League has attracted a number of high-profile players in recent transfer windows, offering significant financial incentives. Should Adeyemi complete a move to Al Ahli, it would provide Dortmund with a substantial transfer fee and allow them to reinvest in other areas of the squad. This transfer could also signal a shift in Adeyemi’s career trajectory, potentially prioritizing financial gain over competing at the highest level in European football.
