Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker intends to inform incoming manager Andoni Iraola of his desire to leave the club this summer, according to reports in Italy. The Brazil international has just one year remaining on his contract at Anfield and has reportedly reached a full agreement on personal terms with Serie A side Juventus.
Alisson, 33, has been Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper since joining in 2018, but has struggled with injuries in recent seasons, making only 26 Premier League appearances last term due to two hamstring problems. Juventus are seeking a replacement for Michele Di Gregorio following a difficult 2025-26 campaign, and Alisson is reportedly keen on reuniting with former AS Roma manager Luciano Spalletti in Turin.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Alisson will contact Iraola once his appointment as Arne Slot’s successor is formalized to express his wish to depart. Iraola recently left Bournemouth after a successful three-year spell and is expected to be announced as Liverpool’s new manager imminently, following Slot’s sacking last week. This will leave the new manager with a significant decision regarding Alisson’s potential move.
Slot was initially expected to continue as Liverpool manager despite a disappointing 2025-26 season, with the club choosing not to pursue Xabi Alonso, who later joined Chelsea. However, a post-season review led to Slot’s dismissal on May 30th, opening the door for Iraola. The Spaniard is now in advanced talks with Liverpool’s hierarchy, with an agreement anticipated shortly as the club aims to improve upon their fifth-place finish in the Premier League. Alisson would become the fourth significant departure from Anfield, following Mohamed Salah, Andrew Robertson and Ibrahima Konate.
Iraola will be faced with a decision to either approve Alisson’s transfer to Juventus or retain the experienced goalkeeper within his squad.
