Ruben Amorim, in his introductory press conference, expressed satisfaction with the current Milan squad but also indicated the club remains active in the transfer market. According to reports from Italy, the primary targets are a central defender, with Gonçalo Inacio favored, a player to operate in the space behind the striker – potentially Karetsas or Alajbegovic – and a right-sided fullback, with Guéla Doué and Belghali both under consideration.
Amorim was careful to manage expectations regarding player valuations, acknowledging that public perception influences those assessments. Several players within the existing squad could be moved on, despite participating in medical examinations and initial training sessions. In defense, Filippo Terracciano, Fikayo Tomori, David Odogu, and Pervis Estupinan are all considered potentially expendable.
The midfield presents the most complex situation. Milan are reportedly open to offers for Youssouf Fofana and Ruben Loftus-Cheek to generate funds. Fofana has attracted interest from Turkish clubs, specifically Besiktas, with a valuation around €25 million. Loftus-Cheek, previously hopeful of a contract extension that expires in 2027, may now need to seek opportunities elsewhere.
Ardon Jashari, Samuele Ricci, and Christian Comotto also have uncertain futures. Jashari is attracting attention from Atalanta, but Amorim intends to evaluate him in training. A similar assessment is planned for Ricci, who needs regular playing time to regain form and potentially earn a place in the national team, with Atalanta and Atletico Madrid both showing interest. The club is working towards a contract extension for Comotto, until 2031, alongside Camarda, and Amorim will determine the best development path for both players.
In attack, Chukwueze is no longer considered for sale. Rafael Leao’s situation remains a key topic, though there have been no concrete discussions with Tottenham. Milan are open to a loan deal with an obligation to buy, but no significant offers have been received. Santiago Gimenez’s value has diminished following a disappointing World Cup and a recent ankle injury, potentially hindering efforts to find a buyer this summer.
