Milan midfielder Ardon Jashari is expected to play a central role in Ruben Amorim’s plans for the club, according to reports from Italy. The new Milan manager has reportedly identified Jashari as a key component of his preferred midfield pairing in a 3-4-2-1 formation, alongside Adrien Rabiot.
Jashari arrived at Milan last summer for a reported fee of €38 million, but struggled to establish himself under previous manager Massimiliano Allegri. Allegri publicly stated he believed Jashari would be best suited to a two-man midfield, the very system Amorim intends to implement, yet failed to consistently utilize him in that role. The Swiss international’s first season was further disrupted by a fractured fibula sustained in August, sidelining him for a significant period.
Amorim, currently reviewing footage of last season’s Milan performances, believes Jashari’s attributes align with his tactical vision. The incoming manager is aiming for a more proactive Milan side, characterized by a higher defensive line, increased aggression, and swift transitions. This contrasts with Allegri’s more cautious approach, which often prioritized securing results in the closing stages of matches.
With potential departures looming for Youssouf Fofana and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Jashari’s position within the squad appears secure, despite Samuele Ricci also vying for playing time. While Rabiot’s future remains uncertain, Amorim clearly views Jashari as a foundational piece of his midfield. Jashari recently featured briefly for Switzerland at the ongoing tournament, playing one minute against Qatar, and may see increased playing time in their upcoming match against Canada. The 2024-25 season represents a crucial opportunity for Jashari to demonstrate his potential and justify Milan’s significant investment.
