Arsenal are reportedly still in contention to sign Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, though they are simultaneously pursuing other targets, while Manchester City have successfully secured the transfer of Jeremy Monga from Leicester City. According to Fabrizio Romano, Barcola is open to a move this summer, despite PSG’s reluctance to sell, and has not definitively committed to remaining with the French champions.
Barcola’s willingness to consider other options comes as Liverpool also maintain a strong interest in the France international. The 21-year-old’s future remains uncertain as he focuses on the upcoming World Cup, but Romano suggests his ambiguous response to questions about his future indicates a potential departure. To secure Barcola’s signature, any potential suitor will need to meet PSG’s financial demands.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have missed out on teenage winger Jeremy Monga, who has opted to join Manchester City. Monga had initially preferred a move to the Emirates Stadium, but Arsenal deemed the financial package required to be excessive, allowing City to capitalise and complete the transfer. The 16-year-old rejected a professional contract with Leicester City following their relegation to League One.
Further complicating Arsenal’s midfield plans, the club, along with Manchester City, are monitoring the situation surrounding Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez. Fernandez is reportedly seeking an exit from Stamford Bridge due to concerns over Chelsea’s competitiveness, but his preferred destination, Real Madrid, have publicly stated they have no interest in signing him. This leaves Fernandez in a precarious position, with Arsenal and City potentially offering an escape route.
In defence, Arsenal have expressed interest in Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa, with Mikel Arteta reportedly viewing him as a potential replacement for Ben White. However, Villa are demanding a fee of approximately €70 million for the 28-year-old, a figure Arsenal are currently unwilling to meet. Konsa has two years remaining on his contract at Villa Park.
