Reports linking Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard with a move to Galatasaray have been dismissed as “completely false” by GOAL. The Norwegian midfielder was the subject of speculation following claims from Turkish journalist Selman Ozturk that an agreement was in place for a transfer worth under €40million (£34.3m) after talks between the club and Odegaard’s agent in Istanbul.
Despite an injury-disrupted 2025/26 season, Odegaard remains a key figure for the Gunners, having captained the side to Premier League glory and contributing eight goal involvements in 24 appearances. His importance to the team extends beyond statistics, with seven of those contributions coming in victories, demonstrating his impact on positive results.
Arsenal have a wealth of midfield options including Declan Rice, Eberechi Eze and Martin Zubimendi, and are also reportedly pursuing Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes. However, the club has no intention of letting go of their captain, who continues to be a key influence both on and off the pitch.
At 27 years old, Odegaard’s leadership and experience are considered invaluable, particularly as Arsenal look to build on their Premier League title win and challenge for Champions League success after reaching the final last season. The club believes parting with him would be counterproductive, and the player himself is reportedly happy to remain with the reigning champions.
