Arsenal are exploring a potential transfer for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, currently at West Ham United, as Mikel Arteta seeks to bolster his defensive options this summer. The news comes as the Gunners aim to build upon their recent Premier League title win and regroup after a Champions League final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.
Arsenal have so far only completed one permanent signing this window, with Piero Hincapie joining the club, and Arteta is primarily focused on strengthening his attacking line with targets such as Bradley Barcola and Julian Alvarez. However, according to a report by TEAMtalk, the club is also actively assessing defensive reinforcements, particularly at right-back, with up to eleven players under consideration.
Ben White is widely expected to depart the Emirates Stadium, potentially seeking a move abroad, creating a vacancy in the squad. Wan-Bissaka has emerged as a player of interest, with his defensive capabilities reportedly appealing to Arsenal’s recruitment staff. The 28-year-old is now available following West Ham’s relegation from the Premier League, and is also attracting attention from Everton and Fenerbahce.
Arsenal’s interest stems from a belief that Wan-Bissaka’s profile would complement Jurrien Timber, providing Arteta with another reliable defensive option capable of containing top-tier wingers. Detailed scouting has already been conducted on the player, though he remains one of several options being evaluated. Other players on Arsenal’s shortlist include Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa, Barcelona’s Jules Kounde – who has been offered to multiple clubs – and Real Madrid’s Raul Asencio.
Celta Vigo’s Oscar Mingueza, RB Leipzig’s Lutsharel Geertruida, Feyenoord’s Givairo Read, Roma’s Wesley, and Monaco’s Vanderson are also being considered. Long-term targets Ivan Fresneda and Tino Livramento complete the eleven-player shortlist. Arsenal are hoping to secure a signing in the coming weeks before the start of the new season. The addition of a new right-back would provide competition and depth in a key position for the Gunners.
