Arsenal have initiated discussions with representatives of Bosnian international Kerim Alajbegovic, potentially positioning the RB Salzburg forward as a future replacement for Gabriel Martinelli. The news comes as the Gunners assess options to strengthen their left wing position, with Bradley Barcola and Morgan Rogers also identified as primary targets.
Alajbegovic recently rejoined Bayer Leverkusen after a season with RB Salzburg, where he recorded 17 goal contributions in 44 appearances. He also showcased his potential on the international stage at the World Cup, scoring for Bosnia and Herzegovina during their group stage victory over Qatar. Despite a subsequent round of 32 exit against the United States, his performances have attracted attention from several clubs.
The Daily Mail reports that Arsenal have already engaged in preliminary talks with Alajbegovic’s representatives. The 18-year-old’s development at Leverkusen next season will be closely monitored, though questions remain about whether he is immediately ready for Champions League football.
Arsenal’s pursuit of Alajbegovic appears to be a contingency plan alongside their interest in more established options like Barcola and Rogers, who are expected to command fees exceeding €100 million. The club is also set to welcome Jeremy Monga from Leicester City, adding another talent to the left side of the pitch. A more experienced player may ultimately be preferred to directly fill any void left by Martinelli, should he depart.
