Arsenal are in discussions with Turkish Super Lig club Besiktas regarding the potential sale of forward Leandro Trossard this summer, according to a report from Turkish outlet Sporx. Aston Villa, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, Juventus and Newcastle United have also expressed interest in the 31-year-old.
Trossard scored eight goals in 50 appearances for Arsenal last season and started in the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain in May. However, he is among a group of players who could leave the Emirates Stadium during the upcoming transfer window as Mikel Arteta looks to reshape his squad.
The Belgium international has just one year remaining on his current contract with the Gunners, prompting the club to consider offers. Besiktas previously attempted to sign Trossard last summer and have now renewed their interest, initiating contact with both Arsenal and the player’s representatives.
Arsenal are simultaneously pursuing several attacking targets, including Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, as well as Rafael Leao of AC Milan, Bradley Barcola of PSG, and Morgan Gibbs-White of Nottingham Forest. Selling Trossard could generate funds to support these potential acquisitions.
Arteta has publicly praised Trossard’s impact, stating after a winning goal against Fulham in October that the player possesses “a huge quality for the team and a massive weapon for us.” Despite this, Arsenal may be willing to part ways with a player who is not a long-term fixture in their plans.
Analysis suggests that selling Trossard might be a misstep for Arsenal, with some arguing that offloading Gabriel Martinelli would be a more logical decision. Martinelli is significantly younger and could command a higher transfer fee, while Trossard’s experience and ability to deliver crucial goals, such as the winner against West Ham United last season, would be valuable assets. His consistent contributions suggest he remains a key component of Arteta’s squad.
