Arsenal are poised to make a substantial opening offer for Aston Villa winger Morgan Rogers, with the club valuing the 23-year-old at a minimum of £80 million, according to reports. The Gunners are also actively pursuing a deal for Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, having already seen an initial £55 million bid rejected.
Arsenal have identified Rogers as a priority target to bolster their attacking options, viewing him as a potential first-choice left winger with the versatility to play as a number ten. Sporting director Andrea Berta is leading the charge to secure Rogers’ signature, with sources indicating the player has been favorably impressed by Arsenal’s presentation. Journalist Ben Jacobs has stated there is a “very strong chance” the deal will materialize, despite competition from Manchester City and Chelsea.
Rogers joined Aston Villa from Middlesbrough in the summer of 2023 and quickly established himself as a key player under Unai Emery, contributing significantly to their push for European qualification. He made 31 appearances across all competitions, scoring eight goals and providing eight assists. His performances earned him recognition with the England under-21 national team.
Alongside the pursuit of Rogers, Arsenal are continuing to push for Guimaraes, with a new proposal of £80 million reportedly in the works. However, Newcastle are believed to value the Brazilian international at £100 million, and the situation is complicated by the potential sale of Sandro Tonali. Newcastle may be reluctant to allow both midfielders to depart in the same transfer window. Liverpool and Manchester United have also expressed interest in Guimaraes, but Arsenal’s offer is currently considered the most concrete.
The Gunners have already completed one significant piece of business this summer, making Piero Hincapie’s loan from Bayer Leverkusen permanent for a fee of €40 million plus bonuses. Arteta’s focus now is on strengthening the wing and midfield positions to build upon last season’s Premier League title challenge. Securing Rogers and Guimaraes would represent a significant statement of intent.
