Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is expected to begin discussions over a new contract with the club immediately following the conclusion of the current season, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The Gunners are currently competing for both the Premier League title and the Champions League, with a final against Paris Saint-Germain still to come.
Romano reported on his YouTube channel that while conversations are ongoing, no agreement will be reached until after the season ends, allowing Arteta to fully focus on the immediate challenges. He suggested that “any moment could be good” for Arsenal and Arteta to finalize a new deal once the current campaign is complete.
Arteta has overseen a significant transformation at Arsenal since his appointment in December 2019, guiding the team to consistent top-four finishes and establishing them as genuine title contenders. His tactical acumen and man-management skills have been credited with fostering a strong team spirit and a clear playing identity. The club’s success in the transfer market is also attributed to sporting director Andrea Berta and his predecessor, Edu.
Currently, Arteta’s contract runs until the end of next season, and he is the second-highest paid manager in the Premier League, earning around £15 million annually, behind only Pep Guardiola. There is speculation regarding Guardiola’s future at Manchester City, with reports suggesting he may depart in the summer, potentially opening the door for Chelsea to pursue former manager Enzo Maresca as a replacement.
Securing Arteta to a long-term contract would provide stability and continuity for Arsenal, reinforcing their ambition to compete at the highest level both domestically and in Europe. A new deal would also likely reflect Arteta’s growing stature within the game and his success in building a competitive squad.
