Aston Villa have emerged as potential suitors for Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi, who could be available this summer, according to reports. The Athletic claims the 24-year-old is open to leaving Signal Iduna Park, although it remains unclear if Villa will make a formal offer in the current transfer window.
Adeyemi joined Dortmund from RB Salzburg in 2022 and has become a key player for the Bundesliga side, scoring 10 goals and providing six assists in 39 appearances during the 2025/26 season. However, contract negotiations between the player and the club have stalled, with his current deal set to expire in 2027.
Bild reports a growing belief within Dortmund that Adeyemi and his representatives are intentionally raising their demands in contract talks, potentially seeking to engineer a free transfer in 2027. This strategy would allow Adeyemi to command a substantial signing-on bonus from his next club. Dortmund may therefore be inclined to sell this summer to avoid losing the player without a transfer fee.
Aston Villa’s interest in Adeyemi is described as long-term, suggesting the club have been monitoring his progress for some time. Unai Emery’s side are looking to strengthen their attacking options ahead of next season, and Adeyemi’s pace and goalscoring ability would likely be considered valuable assets. The potential arrival of Adeyemi could provide competition for existing Villa forwards and add another dimension to their attack.
The situation presents a potential win-win scenario: Dortmund could secure a transfer fee for a player they risk losing for free, while Adeyemi could move to a club where he feels his ambitions are better aligned. Whether Villa will follow up their interest with a concrete bid remains to be seen, but the possibility of a move to the Premier League appears to be appealing to the German international.
