Johan Bakayoko is available for transfer from RB Leipzig after just one season with the Bundesliga club, according to reports in Italy. The 23-year-old winger could be on the move if Leipzig receive an acceptable offer, potentially cutting short his long-term contract with the Saxony-based outfit.
Bakayoko arrived at Leipzig from PSV Eindhoven last summer for a reported fee of €18million, initially impressing with his performances. However, he quickly found first-team opportunities limited due to competition for places within the squad. Despite signing a contract that runs until 2030, his game time diminished as the season progressed.
Corriere dello Sport reports that Leipzig are seeking a fee of around €20million for Bakayoko. AC Fiorentina have expressed interest in the Belgian international, but the Serie A club are currently unable to meet Leipzig’s valuation. Fiorentina are instead exploring the possibility of a loan deal, though it remains uncertain whether Leipzig would consider such an arrangement.
Bakayoko has represented Belgium at the international level, adding to his appeal for clubs across Europe. His pace and dribbling ability were key attributes during his time at PSV, where he established himself as a promising young talent. A move to Fiorentina would offer him the chance to play regular football and potentially showcase his abilities in a different league.
The situation leaves RB Leipzig facing a potential loss on a recent investment, but also the opportunity to free up space in their squad. Should Bakayoko depart, the club may seek to reinvest the funds in strengthening other areas of the team, or bring in another wide player to provide competition.
