Barcelona have announced the signing of German forward Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund on a five-year contract that will run until 2031. The club confirmed the agreement on their official website, stating a transfer fee of €22 million, plus up to €7 million in potential add-ons, with Borussia Dortmund retaining a 30% sell-on clause.
Adeyemi, born in Munich on January 18, 2002, joins Barcelona after four seasons with Dortmund, where he made 48 appearances across Bundesliga and Champions League campaigns. He previously played for Red Bull Salzburg, where he first worked with current Barcelona manager Hansi Flick, who gave Adeyemi his senior international debut for Germany. The pair are now reunited in Catalonia.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Adeyemi was particularly keen on a move to Barcelona, having previously been linked with Italian clubs Inter Milan and Juventus. The forward’s profile, described by Barcelona as “exciting and versatile,” offers speed and a powerful left foot, capable of playing both wide and centrally.
Adeyemi’s international career includes appearances in World Cup qualifying for Germany, though he was not selected for the final squad at the tournament in Qatar. He faced Barcelona twice in the Champions League last season while playing for Dortmund. His arrival provides Barcelona with another attacking option as they look to compete domestically and in Europe, and strengthens Flick’s squad with a player he clearly trusts.
