Alessandro Bastoni will remain at Inter Milan, with his agent, Tullio Tinti, confirming the defender has a two-year contract with the club and is happy in his current surroundings. Speaking to Sky Sport outside the Inter headquarters, Tinti dismissed any suggestion of a departure despite reported interest from Barcelona and other top European clubs.
Bastoni has been a key figure in Inter’s defense since joining from Atalanta in 2017, initially on loan before making the move permanent. The 25-year-old has established himself as one of Serie A’s most promising centre-backs, playing a crucial role in Inter’s Serie A title win in 2021. While Tinti acknowledged that Bastoni’s quality attracts attention from major clubs, he emphasized the player’s contentment at Inter, stating, “In football, anything can happen, but Alessandro is happy where he is.”
Alongside the confirmation of Bastoni’s future, Tinti also provided an update on the situation surrounding Fabiano Ruggeri, currently at Atletico Madrid. He stated that Atletico are pleased with Ruggeri’s performances and keen to retain him, but acknowledged that the transfer market is unpredictable and offers may arise. According to Tinti, there is currently nothing concrete in terms of a transfer, but interest exists both within Italy and abroad.
When questioned about potential interest from Juventus, Tinti confirmed that several top Italian clubs are monitoring Ruggeri’s situation, hinting at possible approaches from Inter as well. He playfully exchanged comments with the journalist regarding specific clubs, acknowledging interest from Juventus and Roma, as well as other unnamed Italian teams. Ruggeri joined Atletico Madrid in 2023 from Bologna, and has quickly become a regular in the Atletico squad. His versatility and attacking capabilities have attracted the attention of several Serie A clubs seeking to strengthen their defensive options.
Ruggeri’s potential move back to Italy could intensify competition among Serie A’s top clubs, particularly those looking to reinforce their full-back positions. The interest from multiple clubs suggests a potential bidding war could emerge if Atletico Madrid decide to consider offers for the player.
