Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt have reached an agreement for the transfer of Nathaniel Brown, with a fee of just under €65 million, according to Bild. Negotiations reportedly progressed significantly on Wednesday, bringing the defender closer to a move to the Allianz Arena.
The transfer is subject to finalising the structure of the deal, particularly the balance between the guaranteed fee and potential add-ons. Eintracht Frankfurt are reportedly seeking assurances that a substantial portion of the total package will be paid upfront, but sources indicate confidence remains high that an agreement will be reached in the coming days. The clubs are aiming to complete the transfer before Germany’s international friendly against Curaçao on Sunday.
Brown has already agreed personal terms with Bayern Munich, with a contract expected to run until 2031. The 21-year-old has quickly established himself as one of the Bundesliga’s most promising centre-backs since joining Frankfurt from Bayer Leverkusen in 2022. He has become a key figure in Dino Toppmöller’s side, making 28 appearances across all competitions last season and earning his first senior international call-up to the German national team.
Bayern have been in the market for a new centre-back following the departure of Lucas Hernández to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer. The Bavarian club have also seen injuries to key defensive players this season, increasing the need for reinforcement. Brown’s arrival would provide competition for places alongside Dayot Upamecano and Matthijs de Ligt, strengthening Bayern’s options at the back as they compete for domestic and European honours.
Frankfurt will be reluctantly losing a key player, but the significant transfer fee represents a substantial profit on the fee they paid for Brown two years ago. The funds generated from the sale will allow Toppmöller to reinvest in the squad and continue building his project at the Deutsche Bank Park. This move positions Brown as a potential long-term solution for Bayern’s defence and a rising star in German football.
