Bayern Munich have placed seven players on the transfer list ahead of the summer window as part of a significant squad restructuring, according to reports from Sport Bild. The German champions are aiming to generate funds for new signings by offloading a group of players, six of whom are currently out on loan at other clubs.
The list of players deemed surplus to requirements includes Joao Palhinha, who is on loan at Tottenham Hotspur, Bryan Zaragoza at AS Roma, Sacha Boey at Galatasaray, Daniel Peretz at Southampton, Arijon Ibrahimović at 1. FC Heidenheim, and Alexander Nübel at VfB Stuttgart. In addition to these six loanees, first-team defender Min-jae Kim is also reportedly available for sale. According to Sky Germany, summer signing Hiroki Ito could also be allowed to depart if a suitable offer is received.
Four of the existing loan agreements contain purchase options for the borrowing clubs. At this stage, it is believed that only the options for defender Sacha Boey and goalkeeper Daniel Peretz are likely to be activated. This suggests Bayern will need to find new buyers for the other loanees, including key figure Joao Palhinha, whose future at Tottenham remains uncertain despite his successful spell in North London.
The potential sale of Min-jae Kim comes despite the South Korean international recently stating he is content with his role as a squad player at the Allianz Arena. The centre-back, who joined from Napoli in 2023, has been a consistent performer but has found himself behind the established pairing of Matthijs de Ligt and Dayot Upamecano in the pecking order. His departure would represent a significant capital gain for the Bavarian club's transfer budget.
This clear-out indicates a strategic shift under the incoming management, with a focus on streamlining the squad and raising capital for targeted reinforcements. The scale of the proposed exits underscores the club's desire to refresh the playing staff after a trophyless season. The generated funds are expected to be directed towards securing Bayern's primary transfer targets, with several areas of the squad identified for strengthening.
The decisions on players like Hiroki Ito, who only arrived from Stuttgart last summer, and Bryan Zaragoza, signed in January, highlight a ruthless assessment of squad fit and financial efficiency. For the players involved, the coming months will be crucial in securing their next permanent destinations, with Bayern Munich aiming to conclude much of this business early in the transfer window to facilitate their own incoming moves.
