FC Bayern president Herbert Hainer has firmly dismissed any possibility of Michael Olise leaving the club, responding directly to speculation linking the winger with a move to Real Madrid. Hainer’s comments came during an interview with Bild on Sunday, where he advised Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez to reconsider any potential bid for the Frenchman. The development arrives amidst Pérez’s re-election campaign, where Olise’s name was unexpectedly raised as a potential target.
Hainer stated, “If Florentino Pérez wants to send us a bid for Olise, which has not happened so far, he can save himself the trouble.” He emphasized that Olise is a key component of Bayern’s long-term plans, adding, “He is a player of FC Bayern with a long-term contract. And, we are not a selling club.” This strong statement aims to quell the growing rumours and reassure Bayern supporters.
The situation arose after Pérez publicly indicated that Real Madrid were preparing a significant offer for a player, leading to widespread speculation. While Pérez did not initially name Olise, reports from Fabrizio Romano suggested the Champions League winners were indeed preparing a bid for the Bundesliga’s Best Player of the Season. This fuelled the narrative that Olise was the target of the impending offer.
Olise joined Bayern in the summer of 2023 from Crystal Palace, quickly establishing himself as a pivotal figure in Thomas Tuchel’s squad. The 24-year-old enjoyed a stellar debut season in Germany, contributing significantly to Bayern’s Bundesliga title win and earning the league’s Player of the Season award. His dynamic dribbling, creative passing, and goal-scoring ability have made him a fan favourite and a valuable asset for the Bavarian giants.
Despite the strong denial from Hainer, the interest from Real Madrid highlights Olise’s rising profile in European football. The winger is expected to feature prominently for France at the upcoming major tournament this summer, providing a further platform to showcase his talents. Hainer’s decisive stance suggests Bayern are determined to retain their star player and build their future around his abilities, solidifying their position as a dominant force in both domestic and European competition.
