Manchester United’s plans for the summer transfer window have been impacted by an injury to midfielder Manuel Ugarte, according to Fabrizio Romano. The 25-year-old sustained a knee injury during international duty with Uruguay against Spain, potentially altering United’s strategy of selling him this summer.
Ugarte had struggled to establish himself at United since arriving from Paris Saint-Germain in 2024, and the club had considered his departure to facilitate further midfield signings. However, the severity of his injury casts doubt on those plans, with the club awaiting further assessment from Uruguay’s medical staff.
Meanwhile, West Ham United’s Mateus Fernandes is attracting interest from both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. West Ham, recently relegated to the Championship, will reportedly sell Fernandes to the highest bidder, with the player himself open to a move to either club. United are still pursuing Fernandes, despite concerns over his €92million (£80m) asking price.
Despite speculation linking Aurelien Tchouameni with a move to Old Trafford, Real Madrid have not indicated a willingness to sell the French international. Manchester United are admirers of the 26-year-old, but any potential deal hinges on Real Madrid changing their stance.
In North London, Arsenal are firm in their decision to retain Viktor Gyokeres, despite interest from Atletico Madrid. The Gunners have informed Atletico that the Swedish forward is not for sale, viewing him as a key part of their project. While Arsenal were previously linked with a move for Julian Alvarez, potentially requiring the sale of Gyokeres or Kai Havertz to fund the deal, they are now committed to keeping Gyokeres at the Emirates Stadium.
