Benjamin Bourigeaud has completed a move to Al Ahli in Qatar, the club confirmed this weekend. The midfielder has signed a three-year contract with one of Qatar’s oldest clubs. Interestingly, Bourigeaud will not need to relocate, as he has been playing in Doha for the past two seasons with Al-Duhail, another club in the Qatari capital.
Bourigeaud enjoyed a productive spell with Al-Duhail, scoring six league goals, one in the Qatar Cup, three in the Qatar Super League Cup, and three in the Asian Champions League. He also found the net twice in the Emir Cup, a significant achievement during his time with the club. He was also part of the Al-Duhail team that won the Qatar Stars League Cup in 2025.
The former Stade Rennais player’s move comes as a continuation of his footballing journey in the Gulf region. Bourigeaud established himself as a key player for Al-Duhail, demonstrating his ability to contribute goals and assists in various competitions. While specific financial details of the transfer were not disclosed, the three-year contract suggests Al Ahli have significant faith in his abilities.
Al Ahli will be hoping Bourigeaud can replicate his form from Al-Duhail and become a central figure in their midfield. The move provides Bourigeaud with a new challenge within a familiar environment, allowing him to continue playing in a league where he has already proven his quality. This transfer reinforces the growing trend of established players moving to the Qatari league, attracted by competitive salaries and the opportunity to play at a high level.
