Bournemouth have informed Manchester United, along with several other Premier League clubs, that midfielder Alex Scott is not for sale this summer, according to reports from the BBC and Ben Jacobs. The 22-year-old has attracted interest from United, Arsenal, Manchester City, and Chelsea, but the Cherries are determined to retain his services.
United identified Scott as one of two potential midfield targets following unsuccessful pursuits of Ederson, Elliot Anderson, Mateus Fernandes, and Sandro Tonali. Fabrizio Romano reported that Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni is the other midfielder currently under consideration by the club. Bournemouth had previously rejected an approach from Arsenal for Scott and are prioritizing a new contract offer for the player.
Scott’s current contract with Bournemouth is set to expire in 2028, and the club has already presented him with two contract offers, one in March and another in April, in an attempt to secure his long-term future. While Bournemouth would ideally like to include a release clause in any new deal, they are prepared to allow Scott to continue on his existing terms if an agreement cannot be reached.
Despite the interest from multiple top clubs, Bournemouth are reportedly resolute in their stance, with club officials communicating directly to interested parties that Scott will not be sold under any circumstances. Clubs are expected to test Bournemouth’s resolve in the coming days, but the Cherries appear firm in their decision. Scott has become a key player for Bournemouth since joining the club, and his departure would represent a significant loss. This development may force Manchester United to intensify their pursuit of alternative midfield targets, including Tchouameni.
