Juventus defender Gleison Bremer will return to Turin following Brazil’s quarter-final exit from the World Cup, but his tournament experience was marked by a lack of playing time under manager Carlo Ancelotti. Despite expectations that a strong World Cup showing could attract interest from major European clubs, Bremer did not feature in any of Brazil’s five matches, despite his teammates Alex Sandro, Danilo, and Roger Ibanez all receiving minutes.
According to reports in Tuttosport, Bremer is returning to Juventus with diminished confidence after failing to contribute to his national team’s campaign. The centre-back was expected to play a key role for Brazil, but Ancelotti consistently overlooked him, even in matches where Brazil’s qualification was already secured. This lack of opportunity has reportedly left Bremer feeling undervalued and questioning his standing within the squad.
Bremer joined Juventus in July 2022 from Torino for a reported fee of €41 million, quickly establishing himself as a key player in Massimiliano Allegri’s side. He has made 29 appearances for the club across all competitions, becoming a mainstay in the starting eleven. However, his recent form has been hampered by injuries, with the club hoping a reset will help him regain his top form.
New Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti now faces the task of reintegrating Bremer and restoring his confidence. Spalletti will focus on both the physical and mental aspects of Bremer’s game, aiming to harness his potential and drive Juventus towards a significant improvement in performance. The timing of Brazil’s elimination is beneficial for Juventus, as it allows Bremer to join the team’s pre-season tour to Hong Kong without being rushed back from post-tournament rest. A deeper run in the World Cup would have delayed his arrival and limited preparation time.
