Juventus are exploring a move for Parma striker Mateo Pellegrino as they seek to bolster their attacking options, according to reports in Italy. The pursuit comes after difficulties in securing other targets, notably Alexander Sorloth, with Atlético Madrid remaining firm on their valuation exceeding 40 million euros.
Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti has reportedly made it clear he wants to sign two centre-forwards this transfer window, regardless of other potential arrivals. Initial contact with Pellegrino’s representatives occurred in mid-June, but Juventus only recently began serious discussions during a meeting with Parma where the transfer of Daffara was finalized.
Parma are currently seeking a fee of at least 30 million euros for Pellegrino, factoring in a 7.5% future sell-on clause for Vélez Sarsfield. Juventus are hoping to negotiate this figure down, aiming to stay below 25 million euros. Fiorentina have also expressed interest, but would need to sell either Piccoli or Kean before making a formal bid.
Pellegrino impressed during his first season in Italy, scoring 12 goals in 39 appearances across Serie A and Coppa Italia for Parma. His profile is considered a good fit for Spalletti’s system, with the manager valuing his physicality, aerial ability – nine headed goals last season – and ability to hold up play. Juventus believe he represents a more affordable option than other targets like Sorloth, Mateta, and Marmoush.
The club are reportedly pushing for an option to buy in any potential deal, rather than a mandatory obligation, to avoid financial complications should they fail to qualify for the Champions League. A potential double-redemption of Kolo Muani and Pellegrino would limit their flexibility in future transfer windows. Parma, however, are open to a loan with an obligation to buy, contingent on certain conditions. Negotiations are ongoing, and the outcome hinges on Parma’s willingness to lower their asking price.
