Manchester United’s search for midfield reinforcements continues, though Eduardo Camavinga is reportedly uninterested in a move to Old Trafford. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Real Madrid midfielder is committed to remaining with the Spanish club and being a key part of their project next season. United’s co-owners, INEOS, had identified Camavinga as a potential target, but the player’s desire to stay at the Bernabéu complicates any potential deal.
United have already secured the signings of Andrey Santos from Chelsea and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa this summer, but manager Michael Carrick is still seeking a defensive midfielder who can add energy and physicality to the squad. Romano reports that the club has also made initial contact with Manu Kone of Roma, though discussions are currently limited to the player’s side. Camavinga was considered as another option, but his unwillingness to leave Real Madrid has shifted focus elsewhere.
Meanwhile, the potential arrival of winger Crysencio Summerville from West Ham United is contingent on the departure of Marcus Rashford. Romano states that United held conversations with Summerville’s agents in June, but no official bid has been made to West Ham. The club is willing to listen to offers for Rashford, though sources indicate he is prepared to return for pre-season training following the 2026 World Cup. Should Rashford leave, Summerville, who is valued at £40 million, would become a more viable target for United as they prepare for Champions League football.
Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado has also rejected a potential move to Manchester United, according to reports. Casado is seeking a club where he can secure regular first-team football, and believes a move to United would see him enter another crowded midfield. He is reportedly prioritizing clubs that can guarantee him a more prominent role. The situation highlights United’s challenge in attracting players who want to be central figures in a new project.
