Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has informed the club’s hierarchy that he does not want to sell Diogo Dalot, despite strong interest from Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich, according to TEAMtalk. The news comes as Real Madrid prepare to appoint Jose Mourinho as their new manager, with the Portuguese reportedly keen on bringing Dalot to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Dalot has attracted attention from several of Europe’s top clubs ahead of a busy summer transfer window. Real Madrid are seeking a replacement for Dani Carvajal, and have identified Dalot as a potential solution, appreciating his ability to play on either flank. Barcelona are also considering Dalot as an alternative to pursuing a permanent deal for Joao Cancelo, while Bayern Munich are looking for a long-term right-back solution.
However, Carrick views Dalot as a key component of his long-term plans at Old Trafford. Sources indicate that the manager has been impressed with the 27-year-old’s consistency and tactical intelligence since taking charge at United. Dalot’s form has been considered an internal success story within the club.
Manchester United are now prepared to discuss a new long-term contract with Dalot, whose current deal has two years remaining, plus an option for an additional year. The club recognizes his importance both on and off the pitch, valuing him as a reliable senior figure in the squad. While negotiations haven’t begun, extending Dalot’s stay is now a priority for United. Despite the significant interest from other clubs, United’s stance is firm: Carrick wants to build his team around Dalot, not cash in on him.
