Casemiro's Future in the Balance as Saudi, MLS Clubs Circle
Manchester United midfielder Casemiro is set to leave the club this summer, with his future set to be decided in a head-to-head battle between clubs in Saudi Arabia and Major League Soccer. According to Spanish outlet Marca, the 32-year-old is a target for both Al-Nassr, home to Cristiano Ronaldo, and Inter Miami, the MLS side co-owned by David Beckham.
Marca reports that Ronaldo is personally involved in trying to persuade his former Real Madrid teammate to join him at Al-Nassr, potentially hijacking a move to the United States. The Spanish publication states that the Brazilian midfielder has already made a trip to the United States, presumably to discuss a potential move to Inter Miami, where he would link up with Lionel Messi.
Despite the heavy interest from the Middle East, a move to MLS currently appears to be the more advanced option. Casemiro has been a mainstay in Erik ten Hag's side when fit this season, missing only three matches for Manchester United, who currently sit third in the Premier League. His contract with the Old Trafford club is set to expire this summer, making him a free agent and free to negotiate with other clubs.
The veteran midfielder, who won multiple UEFA Champions League titles with Real Madrid, has been a pivotal figure at the base of the Manchester United midfield since his move from the Spanish capital. His potential departure would mark the end of a significant, if brief, era at Old Trafford, where he has been a key defensive presence. The coming weeks are expected to be decisive in determining whether the final chapter of his career will be written in Saudi Arabia or the United States.
