AC Milan and Napoli Tracking Augsburg's Mert Kömür - Report
AC Milan and Napoli are among several clubs reportedly tracking Augsburg's young midfielder Mert Kömür. According to a report from Sky Germany, scouts from a number of clubs, including the Italian sides, were present to watch the 22-year-old during Germany's recent Under-21 international fixtures.
Kömür, 22, is an attacking midfielder who has contributed two goals and three assists in 25 appearances for Augsburg this season. His current contract with the Bundesliga club runs until 2029, giving Augsburg a strong negotiating position.
The interest from clubs is not new, however. According to the same Sky Germany report, Augsburg rejected a €12 million offer from Turkish club Besiktas for Kömür during the January transfer window, indicating both his value to the club and the level of interest he is attracting. The report also names FC Porto and PSV Eindhoven as other clubs monitoring the player's situation.
With the summer transfer window approaching, Kömür's future is a developing story. The significant external interest suggests a potential transfer battle, though Augsburg's strong contractual position means they are under no pressure to sell unless a substantial offer is made. Kömür's development at Augsburg has clearly caught the eye of several top European clubs, with a summer move now a distinct possibility.
