Como are poised to sign Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah, with a meeting scheduled to finalize the transfer, according to reports from Italy. The move comes after lengthy negotiations between the two clubs, with Como seemingly set to beat Serie A rivals Inter Milan to the player’s signature ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Chalobah has been a consistent performer for Chelsea since returning from a loan spell at Crystal Palace in January 2025. However, with only two years remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea are willing to sanction a sale, particularly after failing to qualify for European competition last season. Inter Milan had previously been considered favorites for the 27-year-old’s signature, but Como have emerged as the frontrunners in recent days.
Italian transfer reporter Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Como have reached an agreement with Chelsea regarding a transfer fee. The meeting will involve all parties to finalize the details, with Chalobah reportedly enthusiastic about joining Cesc Fabregas’ side as they prepare for their debut season in the Champions League.
Last season, Chalobah made 47 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea, scoring three goals. He received a late call-up to England’s World Cup squad following an injury to Valentino Livramento, but did not feature in the tournament. Chelsea have been actively reshaping their squad under BlueCo ownership, completing 12 deals so far this summer. Players such as Marco Palestra, Geovany Quenda, and Emmanuel Emegha have joined, while Marc Cucurella and Andrey Santos have departed.
Chelsea are also anticipating further departures, with Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile, and David Datro Fofana among those likely to be sold. The club is also in talks regarding potential deals for Strasbourg midfielder Valentin Barco, Rayo Vallecano defender Pep Chavarria, and Crystal Palace’s Maxence Lacroix, who is identified as their primary centre-back target. The summer transfer window is set to close on September 1st, and more activity is expected at Stamford Bridge.
