Chelsea have reached a full agreement to sell striker Jimmy-Jay Morgan to West Bromwich Albion, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The deal, finalized today, is worth a total package of £4 million (€4.6m), and includes a sell-on clause for Chelsea.
Morgan joined Chelsea from Southampton in 2023 for a fee of €3.4 million, but failed to make a senior appearance for the Blues during his three years at Stamford Bridge. The England U20 international impressed for Chelsea’s youth sides, scoring 21 goals in 46 matches.
The 20-year-old spent the second half of the 2024-25 season on loan at Gillingham, scoring twice in 16 appearances. He then enjoyed a productive loan spell at Peterborough United last season, netting 14 goals in 39 games across all competitions, which attracted the attention of West Brom.
West Brom survived relegation from the Championship in the 2025-26 season, largely due to a strong finish under interim manager James Morrison. Morrison has since been appointed as the club’s permanent manager, and Morgan will be his second signing of the summer, following the arrival of Falkirk striker Barney Stewart.
Morgan’s departure marks Chelsea’s third permanent sale of the summer, following Marc Cucurella’s move to Real Madrid for €55m and Frankie Runham’s transfer to Ipswich Town. Several academy players, including Richard Olise, Jimi Tauriainen, Sam Rak-Sakyi, and Brodi Hughes, have also left the club following the expiration of their contracts. Chelsea have been active in the transfer market themselves, bringing in Sporting CP winger Geovany Quenda, Strasbourg striker Emmanuel Emegha, Kairat Almaty forward Dastan Satpaev, and Corinthians defender Denner. These additions will bolster the squad ahead of Xabi Alonso’s arrival as head coach on July 1st.
