Chelsea’s ownership group, BlueCo, and Manchester City’s City Football Group have both expressed interest in signing 18-year-old winger Zadok Yohanna from AIK Solna, according to TEAMtalk. The move comes amid existing interest from Brighton and Newcastle, intensifying competition for the highly-rated Swedish talent.
Yohanna has quickly become one of Scandinavia’s most promising young players following a breakthrough season with AIK, where he has contributed five goals and four assists. He joined the club last year from the Ikon Allah academy and has showcased a skillset that includes pace, flair, and attacking prowess.
Brighton were initially leading the chase, with their recruitment team identifying Yohanna early on, but their position has been challenged by a growing number of suitors. Newcastle have reportedly held talks with the player, while Brentford, Crystal Palace, and Sunderland have also made contact to explore a potential deal.
Both Chelsea and Manchester City are known for their multi-club networks and a strategy of identifying young talent before their market value increases significantly. Yohanna is viewed as a player with substantial long-term potential, and sources suggest a move to England is the most likely outcome. Interest has also emerged from Germany, with RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen both monitoring the situation.
However, AIK Solna are seeking a transfer fee in excess of £20million, which has proven to be a stumbling block for the Bundesliga clubs. This valuation has potentially opened the door for Premier League clubs and their associated ownership groups to take the lead in negotiations. While AIK are not under immediate pressure to sell, a significant offer could result in one of the largest outbound transfers in Swedish football this summer.
