Chelsea are continuing to actively reshape their squad with multiple transfer pursuits underway as the summer window progresses. According to Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid are not currently engaged in negotiations to sign Enzo Fernandez, despite reports linking the Argentinian midfielder with a move to the Bernabeu. Chelsea are reportedly holding firm on a €140 million asking price for Fernandez, though the player himself is said to favour a transfer to Madrid.
In terms of outgoings, the club have agreed to the permanent sale of 16-year-old academy prospect Arthur Barratt to Everton. The transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported via X that Everton will pay a fee for the 2009-born midfielder, who had attracted interest from other Premier League clubs. Everton are viewing Barratt as a key investment in their youth development strategy.
Chelsea have also submitted an opening bid of €9 million for Rayo Vallecano left-back Pep Chavarria, as reported by Spanish sources and confirmed by Romano and The Athletic. This move suggests Chelsea are looking for cover at left-back, anticipating Jorrel Hato will become a regular starter following Marc Cucurella’s potential departure. Rayo Vallecano have reportedly rejected the initial offer, and further negotiations are expected.
Another potential departure is Tyrique George, with The Athletic reporting progress in talks with Everton regarding a €29 million deal. George spent the latter half of the 2025-26 season on loan with Everton, and while the original option to buy has expired, the clubs are discussing a revised permanent transfer with a similar overall fee structure.
However, Chelsea have received a setback in their pursuit of Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, with The Telegraph reporting Villa value the player at a British record €150 million. Villa are unwilling to sell and believe Rogers is worth more than Elliot Anderson, who recently moved to Manchester City. Finally, Chelsea are expected to submit a second bid for Switzerland midfielder Granit Xhaka, after their initial offer of €9.3 million was rejected by Sunderland. Xhaka is reportedly keen on reuniting with Xabi Alonso, his former manager at Bayer Leverkusen.
