Chelsea are reportedly poised to make a move for Toulouse defender Charlie Cresswell, according to Brazilian journalist Joao van Boysen. The Blues have been monitoring the 23-year-old former Leeds centre-back for some time and are now prepared to advance their interest. Cresswell is a two-time U21 European champion, adding to his burgeoning reputation.
Cresswell is anticipated to depart Toulouse this summer, having already attracted attention from several clubs during the January transfer window. He was previously considered as a potential alternative to Jeremy Jacquet, another Chelsea target, while Ligue 1 rivals Rennes expressed interest in him as a replacement for the Liverpool-bound defender. The potential transfer would provide Chelsea with another option in central defence as they continue to reshape their squad.
Meanwhile, Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen has been advised to seek a move away from Stamford Bridge if he hopes to secure the No.1 spot for Denmark. The 24-year-old, who joined the club in 2024 for a reported €24.5 million, has struggled to establish himself as the first-choice keeper. Jorgensen previously requested to leave in January, but his request was denied by the club.
Denmark manager Brian Riemer has stressed the importance of regular playing time for Jorgensen to challenge West Ham’s Mads Hermansen for the starting position. Riemer stated that the coming months will be crucial in determining Denmark’s future goalkeeping selection, emphasizing the need for consistent performances at club level. He also highlighted both Jorgensen’s and Hermansen’s injury histories as factors in the decision-making process.
Incoming Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso is also evaluating the forward options, with a decision expected between Liam Delap and Nicolas Jackson. Jackson spent the 2025/26 season on loan at Bayern Munich after falling out of favour under Enzo Maresca, while Delap has failed to make a significant impact. Alonso intends to assess Jackson before finalizing his plans for the attacking line, with the Senegalese international currently the more established player.
Chelsea could also revisit their interest in Paris Saint-Germain forward Ibrahim Mbaye, whose future at the French club is currently uncertain, as reported by RMC. The 18-year-old impressed during the African Cup of Nations with Senegal but struggled for consistent game time upon his return to PSG. Chelsea previously showed interest in Mbaye during the January window, although a deal was dismissed at the time, the situation may have changed.
