Chelsea striker Liam Delap is likely to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, with Newcastle United and Everton among the clubs expressing interest, according to TEAMtalk. Delap, who arrived from Ipswich Town in the summer of 2025 for a reported £30million, has struggled to make an impact in his debut season with the Blues.
The 23-year-old has scored only three goals for Chelsea and has been hampered by injuries, limiting his opportunities in a competitive squad. Chelsea are now prepared to sell Delap as they look to reshape their attacking options following the appointment of Xabi Alonso as their new manager, starting July 1st on a four-year contract.
Alonso has reportedly requested the acquisition of a “ready-made” top-quality striker, leading the club to consider offloading players who do not fit his vision. Chelsea are also exploring potential moves for Brentford’s Igor Thiago and Galatasaray’s Victor Osimhen, signalling a clear intent to overhaul their forward line.
Newcastle are described as keen admirers of Delap, having previously monitored him during his time at Ipswich Town. However, the Magpies may need to sell an existing striker to create space in their squad. Everton are also considering Delap as a potential target to lead their attack, having previously attempted to sign him last summer.
Everton are reportedly wary of overpaying for Delap, and most clubs are unlikely to exceed the £30million Chelsea originally paid for him. Brighton, Sunderland, and a return to Ipswich Town have also been mentioned as possibilities, though Newcastle and Everton currently appear to be the frontrunners. Offloading Delap would provide Chelsea with funds and squad space as they pursue Alonso’s preferred attacking targets.
